unique collection of soviet paintings and drawings from the socialist realism
epoch.
In the
gallery's collection are presented pieces by both classically recognized and
obscure artistis. The pride of the gallery - severals tens of collections,
which represent all varieties of the creavity of Russian and soviet artists.
Within the
project "Born in the USSR", Liberty Art Gallery regularly runs personal and
thematic exhibitions, devoted to the soviet period in Russian art history. Each
exhibition attempts to present the socialist realism epoch in a new series.
Soviet art is
a new and developing trend in the art market. Many works of soviet artists still
maintain rather affordable prices that enable new investors to purchase these
pieces and form collections.
Our experts
conduct consultations concerning the formation of collections and investment in
works of art, aid in selecting necessary subjects for interiors, and assist in
carrying out examinations and restorations of antique items. Unlike the
antiquarian heritage of the XVIII - XIX centuries, works of the soviet period
have, as a rule, an unblemished provenance - due to their origin and existance
in collections. The majority of the works were got either from the artists
themselves, or from their successors, which guarantees their authenticity.
One of our
aims is to seek out and display works of modern artists, which creatively
express the moods and spiritual pursuits of our time. The art gallery carries
out support of modern Russian artists. Annually, one of our expositions
illuminates the new directions of art in the last decade. The working
principles and methods of Liberty Art Gallery are based on the best museum
standards. Our serious approach to research and art critism analysis of
exhibited works gives us a uniform assortment of quality pieces. From the
results of our research, the gallery plans monographs on the creative works of
the most interesting representatives of the St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Nizhniy
Novgorod schools of painting from the soviet period.
The
technological devices of the art gallery are considered of the best in
Saint-Petersburg and allow us to conduct receptions and presentations of the
highest caliber. In halls the museum system of hanging and illuminating art is
applied. Furthermore, a large plasma screen enables us to display world
cultural events: international exhibitions, antique salons, actions,
master-classes of artists.
In 2006,
"Vogue" magazine included Liberty Art Gallery in their top six best galleries
of Saint-Petersburg.
